No to WWW

I came across No-www some time ago and they caught my attention in a big way. Why do we use www? It's gotta be past its usefulness and No-www think we should deprecate it. So, with this in mind this website doesn't do www - if you load www.lorcancoyle.org you get lorcancoyle.org. I just got validated by the good people at No-www and am proudly displaying my Class B certification (near the bottom of the right sidebar). Hack the Planet, hack the 万维网!

Blog Back Online - Webfactioning

So the blog and website have been down for some time now (hardware issues). I've finally gotten the time to get things back up and running. The blog/wiki/website are now being run from a datacentre in Texas (apparently) courtesy of Webfaction. I'm on a plan that offers 4GB of memory and 600GB of bandwidth! I'll write more on this later both here and on the wiki. In the meantime, I'd be interested to see if anyone has any comments on the new root of the website, my new bibliography (both powered by drupal), and on the blog itself. Also, since I've got a stupid amount of bandwidth going unused, if anyone has any ideas on what to do with it I'm all ears... (obviously no piracy)

Tweet Tweet

So, I've set myself up an account with Twitter and added a Twitter badge to the blog sidebar. I'll be trying to keep it up to date over the coming weeks as a trial to see how it all goes. For those of you who don't know, Twitter answers a single question: "What are you doing now?". If you sign up for Twitter, you will see what all your friends are doing now. You can update it from IM, the twitter website, or a text message.

Google AdSense for Wordpress

Today I added some google ads to this blog. I'm hoping that I can raise enough to pay for my hosting. I've added a skyscraper ad to the right sidebar and a banner ad at the bottom of each post. I've included detailed instructions as to how AdSense ads can be added to wordpress blogs in this way on this wiki page.

Hello World!

So this is my first post. I guess I should give a reason why I am blogging. I'm going to use this blog to write about the interesting and quirky things I see in my everyday life. I'll not be sending group emails anymore, rather I will invite my friends to read this blog periodically. It will also be part of my online presence. So that's that...
